US eNational Team drops international friendlies against Mexico, eMLS players falter

Mexico continues to have the upper hand when facing the US men’s national team, even on Twitch.

The Concacaf rivals squared off Friday night when the US eNational Team encountered El Tri in a pair of two-legged series, as hosted by Univision's Ramses Sandoval. Ultimately, Mexico secured a 7-3 win on aggregate and won three of four games.

The first matchup saw Cormac Dooley (Doolsta), Nashville SC’s eMLS player, face Luis Fernando Villanueva Morena (VillaMore3) on Playstation. Villanueva and Mexico earned the 3-1 aggregate win, with Josh Sargent scoring the USMNT's only goal and Raul Jimenez netting twice for El Tri.

Troubles continued onto Xbox, when LA Galaxy eMLS player Giuseppe Guastella (GGGodfather) dropped a 4-2 aggregate series loss against Alberto Osmar (Beto19Avila). For MLS connections, Inter Miami midfielder Rodolfo Pizarro scored once and Toronto FC forward Jozy Altidore bagged a brace.

The matches were played in "85 Overall" mode, and were part of US Soccer’s "BEND THE CURVE. STAY AT HOME” campaign to encourage fans to follow the advice of medical experts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
